Firomy - The Shadow, 2023 ( Acrylic on panel, 20 x 28 cm)
Born in Mexico, and always torn between logic and creativity, I found myself in the UK after being awarded a scholarship to study for a PhD in Computer Science. I steered my career towards art after an opportunity to work within the creative sector gave me insights into the significance of art. Although I have developed my drawing and painting skills over the course of many years, the theoretical framework that scaffolds my practice has emerged as an outcome of my engagement with the MFA in Fine Art.
My artworks document a quest for inner understanding. I collect dream impressions and use these as narratives for paintings in an attempt to articulate unconscious feelings and thoughts.
I consider every painting a puzzle piece, a tiny part of an unconscious reality I long to understand.
Both aesthetically and philosophically my practice aligns with and expand on the surrealist tradition.
