Yolande Wyer
‘Wish that I had ducks feet too’ ( Dr Seuss 1965) installation or ’Pilgrimage’
I am a multi- media artist living in Oxfordshire. I am heavily influenced by a previous history as an architect and a natural interest in spatial form. My art practice themes have become more wide ranging including; Liminality, refuge, spiritual pilgrimage, fragility, instability and transience and health. Assemblage ,found objects, painting and printing are my preferred mode of expression. Place, psycho-geography or incongruous objects in landscape frequently trigger artworks as illustrated by my MFA exhibition installation ’Pilgrimage’. I became fascinated by the tidal refuge structures punctuating various pilgrimage routes on the holy island of Lindisfarne. The refuge structures began to metamorphosize into the pilgrims themselves.
